Professor Don Grierson is a British geneticist who was involved in creating the first genetically modified tomato, it was designed to ripen more slowly, thus increasing shelf life and cutting down on potential food waste. The tomato was used in a purée and became the first GM food to be sold in the UK. Don Grierson is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Nottingham.
I was wondering what you thought of his work and whether or not the tomato purée should have been sold in the UK, effectively opening the flood gate for GM foods in Britain.
As long as the potential effects from consuming GM food is thoroughly researched, I don't see why it would be anything but helpful for every party involved. Sounds like a pretty awesome guy with a tomato shaped head.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't see how this could be considered a bad idea.
